PlanetLab Europe is the core testbed provided by the OneLab project and is the European arm of PlanetLab, the world's most widely used research networking testbed. PlanetLab Europe has the freedom to innovate on behalf of European industrial and academic research priorities, and was established by OneLab1 WP1 Operations with this work continuing through OneLab2 WP2 Operations.
The aim of this testbed is to give European Internet stakeholders a means to experiment at the network and application layers and accelerate the design of advanced networking technologies for the future internet. In its role as overseer of PlanetLab Europe OneLab works in close collaboration with Princeton University, home of the PlanetLab worldwide headquarters (PlanetLab Central). The management teams of PlanetLab Europe and PlanetLab Central are in constant contact, and personnel regularly exchange extended visits. Whether you are thinking of joining the testbed or just want to be better informed, you may be interested to read the PlanetLab Europe datasheet, which provides a useful overview of the facility. In addition, two "use case" datasheets have also been produced, to highlight two key research capabilities offered by the testbed. |
