Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE)

Eötvös University is the largest university in Hungary, and one of the oldest. In 2005 ELTE established the eScience Regional Knowledge Centre to foster industry-academia collaborations in the area of scientific databases, virtual observatories, bioinformatics and networking. Since 2005 ELTE has participated in the development of the measurement database of the European Traffic Observatory Measurement Infrastructure (ETOMIC)  via the large-scale international project "Cooperative Centre for Network Data Analysis" funded by the Hungarian Office for Research and Technology in collaboration with Collegium Budapest and Public University of Navarra. ETOMIC consists of 18 measurement stations (etom-s) hosted by European universities and research institutions.

Role in the OneLab project:

Having joined the project for its second phase (OneLab2), the group contributes mainly to OneLab2 WP4 Topology Information. ELTE is the leader for Task 4.3. It coordinates the OneLab virtual observatory and data format standardisation effort. It is also responsible for the deployment of ETOMIC-type measurement stations. It will develop some of the tools for the visualisation of the measurement data and IP geo-location.
