Università di Pisa (UniPi)

UniPi will participate in the project with its Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione (DEIT), counting about 90 faculty and staff members researching in the fields of electronics, computer engineering and telecommunications. The DEIT receives financial support from national and international public agencies (MIUR, CNR, ENEA, ESA, EC) and private companies. Networking-related research is widely explored by the DEIT, with research groups working on different areas ranging from MAC protocols to middleware and distributed systems. The researchers involved in this proposal have focused their activity mainly on aspects of scalable and efficient network protocols and systems.

Role in the OneLab project:

In the first phase of the project (OneLab1) UniPi was responsible for the emulation component of Work Package 4, and in OneLab2 it is deeply involved in WP1 Integration, contributing its expertise in system design and development to add new features to the PlanetLab Europe platform, and providing the necessary resources to create new releases of the software.
