Quantavis s.r.l.

Quantavis is a spin-off company of the University of Pisa, specialised in software-as-a-service solutions for the semiconductor industry (on-demand nanotechnology CAD) and in the provision of solutions for electronic infrastructures, RFID, and ambient intelligence systems and components. The main product under development is based on a system of wireless sensors and actuators, connected to distributed base stations. Wireless sensors and actuators are realised with a proprietary technology, whereas gathering and presentation of data from distributed sensors is done using an open source network monitoring solution (CoMo). Quantavis competencies are in the field of design of RFID and wireless sensors and actuators, and in the development of application for data gathering, data presentation, and system control over a distributed system.

Role in the OneLab project:

Within the project's first phase (OneLab1), Quantavis took over the passive monitoring software component of WP4 from Intel Corp when this partner left the project in December 2006 and was also responsible for packet tracking. In OneLab2 Quantavis contributes to WP5 Packet Tracking, developing and extending the packet tracking capabilities already deployed, based on the CoMo network monitoring tool. Since OneLab2's packet tracking is expected to be a larger and more complex system than the one used in OneLab1, Quantavis is working on tailoring packet tracking techniques, and on adding new features such as local and global resource management.
