WP8 Integrating SAC Networks

Leader: Dr Franck Legendre, ETH Zurich

The goal of this work package is to use OneLab to interconnect SAC clouds. SAC (Situated and Autonomic Communications) is a new communications paradigm that encompasses technologies such as mobile ad-hoc communication, Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs), etc. Concretely, this work package will design a network gateway that allows for the interconnection of PlanetLab Europe with future networking technologies such as opportunistic networks (Pocket-Switched Networks (PSNs) designed in Haggle), delay- and disruption-tolerant networks (DTNs), and future autonomic networks (ANA).

Specifically, we will design a multi-interface, multi-protocol gateway technology to bridge the IP world with the SAC world. Besides the core technology (the SAC gateway), we will also develop the necessary procedures and management interfaces to enable the seamless integration of this next generation networking technology. Once the gateway deployed, experiments will be performed to demonstrate the interoperability and show how PSN, DTN, or ANA clouds could communicate through PlanetLab Europe (i.e., through the internet).
