WP4 Topology Information

Leader:
Dr Timur Friedman, UPMC Paris Universitas

This work package significantly enhances PlanetLab Europe's topology monitoring infrastructure by increasing its scope, through federation with the DIMES system, and increasing its accuracy with the addition of ETOMIC boxes. It also studies data representation in order to improve the usability of data for researchers using PlanetLab Europe. Finally, it brings to bear data visualisation techniques  in order to assist users in their data analysis.

While UPMC is the work package leader, the other main contributing partners are ELTE , UAM and TAU . ELTE  coordinates the virtual observatory and data format standardisation effort and is the main partner responsible for the deployment of ETOMIC-type measurement stations. ELTE is also developing some of the tools for the visualisation of the measurement data.

UAM coordinates the enhancements to the ETOMIC platform, in order to improve usability and offer better service to OneLab users. UAM also provides the design and implementation of a web services interface with semantic capabilities that will largely improve the federation capabilities of ETOMIC.

TAU focuses on the deveopment of data visualisation and geo-localisation aspects and runs DIMES, which will be improved on and federated with TopHat.
