Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT-Aveiro)

IT-Aveiro is a private, non-profit organisation, the result of the association of five institutions with experience and traditions in Research & Development in the field of telecommunications. IT-Aveiro's mission is to "create and disseminate scientific knowledge in the field of telecommunications" and thus it undertakes fundamental and applied research in telecommunications in an international context in order to improve higher education and training, both at graduate and postgraduate levels, and the competitiveness of Portuguese industry and telecommunications operators. IT-Aveiro activity is mostly organised around projects that may range from local, to national, to European or international with tens of partners.

IT-Aveiro will provide a multidisciplinary group of people with expertise ranging from advanced wireless transmission to networking, which combines both theoretical and experimental approaches. IT-Aveiro has previous expertise in large demonstrators for wireless networks, and currently hosts the Daidalos project prototype test bed, and is installing the C-Mobile test infrastructure. People engaged in OneLab have been strongly committed to these test infrastructures.

Role in the OneLab project:

Joining the project in its second phase, IT-Aveiro contributes mostly to the wireless technologies aspects, relying on its expertise in previous large demonstrators (such as the Daidalos project test bed), and taking part in OneLab2 WP9 Benchmarking.
