Formed in 2001 and situated in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Selim and Rachel Benin School of Engineering and Computer Science incorporates the Institute of Computer Science and extends it into systems engineering, applied physics and other disciplines. The laboratory of Distributed Algorithms, Networking and Secure Systems (DANSS) is active as a focused research laboratory since 1990 and is headed by Professor Danny Dolev and Professor Scott Kirkpatrick. It currently has 14 PhD students and over a dozen MSc students doing active research in distributed systems, reliability, security and networking. The DANSS group has been a leading centre for reliable and survivable distributed systems over a decade and impacted both academic projects and ommercial products. Joining the project for its second phase (OneLab2), HUJI is involved in WP2 Operations and WP3 Dissemination. Their interest is to improve the service level of OneLab and to extend the PlanetLab infrastructure to new research environments both inside and outside of computer science.
