FIT (Future Internet of Things) is one of 52 winning projects from the first wave of the French Ministry of Further Education and Research's "Équipements d'Excellence" (EquipEx) research grant programme. Coordinated by Professor Serge Fdida of OneLab lead partner UPMC, and running over a nine-year period, the project will benefit from a 5 800 000€ grant from the French government. FIT will contribute to the development of the OneLab experimental facility, providing new equipment (both hardware and software) located in five different sites across France and deploying various technologies such as wireless, sensors and overlays. FIT also aims to expand OneLab with the addition of both ECO (Embedded Communication Object) testbeds and a Cognitive Radio testbed. Partners in FIT are: UPMC, INRIA, Université de Strasbourg and Institut Telecom. With a total funding of one billion euro, the EquipEx programme will allow French laboratories to acquire the advanced scientific equipment required for them to be at the forefront of international research, ensuring the growth of knowledge and innovation. For further information, a FIT website will soon be online. |
