OneLab coordinator Professor Serge Fdida, of lead partner UPMC, has been interviewed in the latest edition of the CNRS International Magazine. Edition number 20, released in January 2011, contains a special feature about the Future Internet, called "The Future of Computing Science". This feature includes an article entitled "The digital revolution" (page 21), containing a short interview with Professor Fdida, who answered questions to show how test infrastructures such as those offered by the OneLab initiative will help to develop a Future Internet more adapted to handle the evolving demands of Internet users, such as mobility, security and platform diversity on a large scale. In the article, Prof. Fdida explains that through federation with other testbeds worldwide, such as PlanetLab Central in the USA, Private PlanetLab Korea, and soon G-Lab in Germany, OneLab's testbed federation aims to offer an experimental platform for scientists, industry, and small and medium businesses to securely design, deploy and test new tools and web services. Along with the equivalent infrastructures outside Europe, the OneLab platform represents the first step, a test phase of sorts, for this giant undertaking.
